Taking a moment to Reflect

In the midst of planning, doing, looking after, caring, worrying, regretting, living…

Take a moment to reflect.

Most days from the second I open my eyes until the time I fall exhausted onto my pillow to sleep, I am inundated with responsibilities, aspirations and endless to-do lists. Looking after my children, finding the time to cater to side projects and all the while trying to fulfill the obligatory acts of worship with sincerity. These days end up nothing more than a race to the finish where at the end I feel unaccomplished winning nothing more than a headache.

Then there are the days that change me. Where somewhere in the middle of the chaos, I pause. I look out the window and see the sun shining through the falling leaves as the light traces the edges of the floating foliage finding it way to my eyes. SubhanAllah. I reflect, how magnificent it is that Allahsubḥānahu wa ta'āla (glorified and exalted be He) knows of every leaf as it falls from every tree and it is all intentional. So what does that say about my own seemingly small existence? In the spread of all humanity, every aspect of my life is known intimately by the one that created me, it is all intentional too.

These reflections may be just a passing moment in the busyness of our ever chaotic lives. They may seem unimportant. But, when shared, they have the capacity to change the lives of others around us.

And so, I begin this new journey, of sharing those passing moments, sharing those reflections in remembrance of Allah subḥānahu wa ta'āla (glorified and exalted be He) in a hopes that it shines a light through someone’s darkness. Even if only briefly. Maybe you can share your moments with me too, Insha’Allah.

[This is] a blessed Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that they might reflect upon its verses and that those of understanding would be reminded  (Quran, Sahih International, 38:29)

With Peace,

Wa Asalaamu’alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh
